The internal audit function is an effective assurance and consulting function designed to evaluate and improve effective risk management, control and governance processes. Internal auditors have obtained prominent status in most corporations and CPA firms. In addition, internal audit has proved to be an effective training ground for potential managers.

The Internal Audit Activity’s Role in Governance, Risk and Control covers topics relative to compliance with the IIA’s attribute standards, risk and control knowledge elements, establishing priorities of the internal audit activity, and planning the internal audit engagement. Participants will gain an understanding of the nature of internal audit work in risk management, control and governance.

CIA candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) or its educational equivalent from an accredited college-level institution. Applicants must meet the education requirement before their CIA application can be approved and before they can register and sit for any CIA exam parts. Full-time undergraduate students in their senior year may sit for the exam. Professionals holding qualified certifications may receive professional recognition credit for Part 4 of the CIA® exam. Educators may be eligible to have exam fees waived.

Course requirements for award of a certificate of completion and 15.5 hours of continuing professional education credit for each of Parts 1-3 and 7.5 hours of continuing professional education credit for Part 4 are as follows: Review of all audio narrated PowerPoint presentations (online); Completion of all www.learnCIA.com practice exams with a score of 70% or better; Completion of the online post course examination (within 1 week of course end) with a score of 70% or better.
